Operation Basket Drop Update

Mrs. Reidy,

Good afternoon Ma'am. I am the DSTB, 1st Armored Division Communications Officer and a primary staff member to LTC Turner. LTC Turner appointed me as the officer to organize the distribution of the baskets received in the mail from Operation Basket Drop.

LTC Turner briefed me on the Operation. What a wonderful, caring and creative way to send comfort items to the junior enlisted female Soldiers as they have had to adapt to such big changes in their lives. I have also checked out the information on the Georgia Basketry website and have seen a sample of the care packages that have come through (very beautiful craftsmanship!).

I am honored to be able to distribute these baskets to the female Soldiers of our Battalion. LTC Turner has basically given me the opportunity to expand on his vision of distribution. I would definitely love to have any pictures you may have Ma'am of the GBA and/or Gwinnett Basket Weaver's Guild and its members. Sometimes it is nice to put pictures of the hard work put into the care packages so that we can allow for a more memorable experience. Also, any emails or letters to the Soldiers receiving these packages from members who participated in Operation Basket Guild are also be welcomed. I think that this is a wonderful program and I want to make this more personal for these Soldiers and allow them to really appreciate the baskets, feel the support from the home front, and see all the hard work put into them. We are looking to do the distribution on July 04, 2010.

Thank you again Ma'am to you and the rest of the contributors for committing yourselves to empowering the young women of our Battalion through your gifts of appreciation. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you.

 Very Respectfully,

Aiana Janica F. Garin
